Bitesize Prediction: Rotherham vs Stoke – 26/12/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Stoke draw no bet

Odds: 8/13 @ 888sport

Hoping to try and find a route into the top-half of the Championship table on Boxing Day, Stoke will make the trip to a struggling Rotherham.

Starting with the hosts, although Rotherham might open Boxing Day still sat outside the drop zone, it appears that the Millers are destined to be at the heart of another bottom-three scrap in 2023. Marking their return from the World Cup break with a pair of woeful displays, Matt Taylor’s men will firmly be looking over their shoulder. Now coming off the back of back-to-back 3-0 and 3-1 drummings at the hands of West Brom and Bristol City, the Yorkshire-based outfit have picked up just a single win from any of their last nine Championship outings. With that nightmare spell stemming all the way back to October 18th, Rotherham have also gained a reputation for their extended issues on home soil. In fact, it should be highlighted, Taylor’s side have lost each of their previous three consecutive contests at the New York Stadium by an aggregate score of 9-4.

As for the visitors, although Stoke might have once again shown some extended inconsistencies this season, it looks like the Potters have found a welcomed boost. Last seen on December 17th when picking up a 2-1 victory against Bristol City, Alex Neil’s men should be smelling the chance to lay down another Championship marker on Boxing Day. Keeping the mood in their camp at a high with a 2-1 win against Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest in a friendly showdown earlier in the month, they have also continued on a largely impressive run away from the bet365 Stadium. On a run that is underlined by a 2-0 victory away at Preston back in October, Stoke have lost just two of their last eight second-tier contests outside of Staffordshire. Unbeaten in their last three trips to the New York Stadium, we’re backing an away draw no bet on Monday afternoon.
